Getting started with MathVoice

A simple, step-by-step guide to launching MathVoice activities with confidence — before, during, and after each activity, both at school and at home.

How to use this guide: Choose a track below — MathVoice at School or MathVoice at Home — then work through each phase in order: Before, During, and After. Check off items as you go; your progress is saved automatically on this device.

Use this track to prepare for, run, and follow up on a MathVoice activity done together in your classroom.

Before the activity

Ensure that you have assigned at least 1 MathVoice at School activity.
Test 2–3 student QR codes on your classroom device (e.g., Chromebooks) to confirm your device connects properly. Follow instructions on the QR code handouts.
Confirm cameras and microphones are enabled on student devices
Prepare materials listed in the Teacher Notes for the activity.

During the activity

Model for students (initial activities): Do a practice run-through with your entire class. Display the activity and guide students through expectations for each step.
Show students how to log in with their QR codes and password
Model how to complete the activity
Demonstrate how to record a video and explain what a strong explanation sounds like
Once routines are established, begin rotating small groups through the MathVoice activity.
Reset activity materials between groups
Students must do the following after the MathVoice activity:
Record video and click NEXT
Select ratings and click SUBMIT

Review the MathVoice activity AI insights report to identify student thinking trends and next steps.
Review a sample of student recordings (optional, recommended).
Assign the next MathVoice at School activity.
